It was originally developed in Hamilton.We have streamlined it into our own system. It works. (there are ways of doing this) NZ government also needs to stop changing the whole of the laws in NZ because a few have not complied. Prosecute those that are breaking the law and stop 'pussyfooting' into a PC culture. It also needs to be considered that the Truancy problem in nz is NOT a 'Ethnic' Cultural issue but a 'Family/Whanau' issue. |
The Central Taranaki DTS and the South Taranaki DTS have already streamlined the prosecution process through the Rock On Incentive we have developed as per MoE recommendations.

The Central Taranaki District Truancy Service
Will continue to operate a Truancy Service for the Community and Schools within Central Taranaki until the end of Term 4. 2012.
Beyond that time the Central Taranaki District Truancy Service will be shut for business unless contracted out to another provider who holds the purse strings allocated by the Ministry of Education.
The Central Taranaki DTS (and STDTS) in collaboration with YMCA had applied to operate District 11 (the Taranaki Region) starting term 1.2013.
This was NOT successful and the MoE have selected another provider.
The new provider is unknown at this stage. It is hoped that the future provider will approach the CTDTS/STDTS for their continued professional services as it is recognized by the Ministry of Education as:
(Quote - The MoE acknowledges that current DTS providers are the repositories of knowledge and expertise regarding supporting schools to return students to education in a timely manner with appropriate supports)
The Ministry of Education nz says that it is to combine the Non Enrolled Truancy Service (NETS) and the District Truancy Service (DTS) into one integrated New Service.
