12. (New) What about the DTS in the six MSD trial locations (Levin, Gore, Te Kuiti, Tokoroa, Taumaranui, Kawerau)DTS currently involved in the Social Sector Trials (being led by the Ministry of Social Development through to February 2013, where a key outcome is decreasing truancy in six locations) are encouraged to submit an EOI response to ensure that potential lead regional providers are aware of their interest post February 2013. The six trial locations will not be part of the Intergrated Attendance Service in the first instance, however the DTS providers for the trial area may be able to offer expertise in locations outside of the trial area.
DTS funds for the trial locations were transferred to the management of the Social Sector Trial for the period 1 March 2011 to 28 February 2013. The truancy service arrangement for trial locations remains the decision of Social Sector Trial lead individual/NGOs and the local Governance Groups for the trial period.
The Ministry of Education is working with the Ministry of Social Development to ensure an agreed approach and we are currently exploring ways to ensure that the trial locations are aligned with the Integrated Attendance Service.
